Unforgettable student life

Viisi iloista, haalaripukuista opiskelijaa hassuttelee Savilahden rannalla.

Here, you will not need to fit in to belong; instead, everyone has the opportunity to shine as they are. The wide range of studying options and leisure activities help make your time as a student an unforgettable life experience.

Savilahti has a unique campus that provides education on three degree levels. The area is home not only to the Kuopio campus of the University of Eastern Finland, but now also to the Savonia University of Applied Sciences, which relocated to the new Microkatu campus in the autumn of 2020. And in August 2022, over 4,000 students of the Savo Vocational College began their studies on the new Savilahti campus, too. Students in the area have excellent opportunities for collaboration, both with each other and with local businesses.

Currently, there are 7,000 University of Eastern Finland degree students and 6,500 Savonia University of Applied Sciences students studying in Savilahti. With the students of Savo Vocational College now also in their new and modern facilities, the student community in Savilahti now comprises 17,500 students. And if those taking smaller study units or courses are included, the number of students rises to nearly 20,000.

Those who choose their own paths will change the world, not only for themselves, but for others as well.
