Mind Flow (Ajatuksen virta)
The light art is an interface between people and the building. It is fixed into the architecture without standing out in daylight. When it gets dark, the work brings life to the static building, breathing to its rhythm. The living lit surface of the glass facade reflects the flow of thought and how are minds are energised by external stimuli. On the other hand, it visualises the sensitivity of our ability to concentrate and our occasional need for a quiet space.
The tranquil movement of light, the Mind Flow, gains more “energy” from external stimuli, such as sounds and the number of people around it. The work can also transform into a means of communication, as its colours can be changed according to situation or event (e.g. to mark holidays or special occasions).
The work of art has been designed by lighting designer Riku Pirtilä.
Location: Facade of the SAKKY Savilahti campus bistro / Hehkukatu 1, Savilahti
Year of completion: 2022
Commissioned by: Savo Consortium for Education
